Please join us in warmly welcoming our three new River Holme Connections Trustees Pam, Sue & Mike.
Pam King
I’m originally from Sheffield and for the last 19 years have lived in Thongsbridge near the
river with my partner Steve. Prior to that I lived in Netherton for 20 years, so have had a
long association with the Holme Valley. I retired in 2018 after working for more than 40
years in education, care and health, predominantly with children, young people and adults
with profound and complex needs. I’ve always had a keen interest in environmental
issues and been involved with various groups within Kirklees.
I think it’s more important than ever right now to appreciate and benefit from the beautiful
area that surrounds us and I’m proud to be a part of River Holme Connections who are
committed to making such a difference locally. Hopefully I can and will be able to
contribute positively to that difference as a new Trustee.
Mike Dolton
I am an Engineer in my mid-fifties, spending the last 35 years working in various industries including telecoms, diesel power, and turbocharging. The latter was a 25 year career at Cummins in Huddersfield where, aside from my technical and managerial posts, I led the Environmental section of their Community work for the last ten years. This fitted well with my lifelong interest in nature, particularly ornithology, and I learned a lot about practical conservation and the voluntary work that goes on in our area. I retired from Cummins in late 2019 and now have more time to devote to RHC and other voluntary work, as well as my family and garden! I grew up in West London and, after living in Scotland and NW England in the eighties and nineties, we moved to Honley nineteen years ago. I have been married to Susan for 23 years, and we have a 20 year old son at University.
Sue Lee-Richards
I am a teacher and Green councillor for the Newsome Ward in Kirklees Council. I have always been interested in the environment, nature and reducing our impact on the planet. Living in Kirklees allows me to get out and enjoy volunteering with River Holme Connections and the amazing green open spaces on my doorstep.
