The blanket bogs of the Peak District and South Pennines became some of the most degraded peatlands in the world following pollution from the industrial revolution. Since 2003 the Moors for the Future Partnership has been working to reverse this environmental catastrophe. The area known as Black Hill above the river Holme has transformed from a bare peat landscape devoid of life to a living, breathing habitat once again. Join our walk from Holme to the Black Hill trig point to see the difference and discover the benefits to communities downstream. See the plants and animals that call this landscape home once more.
Please be aware, this is a strenuous walk with a steep uphill section. the walk is expected to take until 9:30pm. Walking boots with decent ankle support are essential.
