Here’s some top basic photography tips from our volunteer photographer Mick.
Before you go out.
Batteries fully charged and memory card installed with sufficient space.
Try to understand the relationship between aperture, shutter speed and ISO particularly when using DSLR and bridge cameras.
Check out the rule of thirds for composition.
Out snapping.
Use the correct settings.
People, pets etc. Subject in focus, particularly the eyes. Background blurred.
Get down to the subject’s level.
Landscapes require most of the subject to be in focus.
Try to keep the sun behind you, early morning and evening is best light.
Processing back home.
Crop for best composition, straighten to keep horizons horizontal.
Sharpen, brighten and saturate slightly if required for more vibrancy.
Delete the ones you don’t like.
We would like to say a huge thank you to the sponsor of this competition.
